| Minimally Invasive Surgery or MIS also called Laparoscopic or key- hole surgery involves performance of surgical procedures through the skin, a body cavity or an anatomical opening made using laparoscopic devices and remote-control manipulation of instruments by indirect observation of the surgical site, through the use of an endoscope or a similar device. There will only be minimal scarring on the skin, with faster recuperation. |

Dr. Hafeez Rahman is one of the pioneers in the world for laparoscopic or Minimal Invasive Surgical procedures. Most of the techniques he has developed over the years are followed all over the world including countries like the US. He was also the Hon. Secretary of Indian Faculty of Endoscopy and the Founder-Vice President of IMAGE, which is the Gynaec./Endoscopy society.
Harry Rich who was the first in the world to conduct hysterectomy laparoscopically has done only 2000 procedures so far. Dr. Hafeez Rahman by now has completed more than 25,000 laparoscopic surgeries, which is probably the largest number done by any one and more than 13,000 laparoscopic hysterectomies which is again the largest number. Dr. Rasad Pasic from USA appreciated Dr. Hafeez as the ‘miracle doctor’ for the large number of MIS’s performed and has appreciated him in an editorial in the American Journal of Endoscopy.
For over 12 years, Dr. Hafeez Rahman has been teaching Gynecologists of all ages and competency levels from all over the world in the art of Laparoscopy. As of today, over 1000 Gynecologists have benefited from his wealth of knowledge and expertise in this field. He was instrumental in establishing laparoscopic surgery in many States in India like Assam, Bihar, Manipur and Rajasthan. |

Dr.R Padmakumar, Medical Director who received his training in laparoscopy and cancer surgery from prestigious institutions including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi, TATA Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and Apollo Cancer Hospital, Chennai. Dr. Padmakumar has 17 years’ experience in Laparoscopic Surgical Procedures. He is an eminent Bariatric Surgeon and one of the pioneers in performing surgical treatment of non obese diabetics. Other team members include some of the eminent doctors and surgeons spanning various specialties coupled with exceptionally efficient and well trained nursing staff and paramedical staff. |

Dr. D.Madhukara Pai is a General & Laparoscopic Surgeon at Sunrise Hospital, Kakkanad. He completed his MBBS at Medical College, Alleppey, Kerala in 2003. He obtained his M.S. General Surgery in 2008 from the University of Kerala. Following this, he was a teaching faculty & consultant at TD Medical College where he performed open general surgical procedures. He has been associated with Sunrise Hospital from 2009 onwards and is an expert in performing laparoscopic appendicectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy and laparoscopic hernia surgeries apart from routine general surgical procedures. He has published various papers at state and national level. |
